An entertaining read, gives one a real sense of what days in Rwanda would be like.

The best way to describe this book is real! Not a story I would ordinarily choose to read, and it took me a while to get into it fully, but once familiar with the characters their stories became so moving, and almost tangible.
It offers real insight into the lives of other Africans living in different parts of the continent, and I thoroughly enjoyed her use of humour to lighten the mood even after the retelling of particularly horrific stories, her ability to lighten the load is remarkable.
All in all a tremendously enjoyable book that really opens your eyes to what you have, and how you should appreciate it!

I loved reading this book! Its witty; I enjoyed her style of writing and the way Angel makes her customers feel at ease to share their personal stories with her. It also gives one insight on HIV/Aids issues in Rwanda and the residual effects of the genocide. Well written indeed :-).

Book review: this is a fun and easy read about life in Rwanda and how Angel interacts with the community with her cakes. The author clearly loves baking and cakes, as she details and descriptions of the cakes make them come alive on the page. This is written in a real conversation style and gets into the heart and soul and the lives of the different characters in the book. Well done, worth reading.

Well written and entertaining. The book really draws the reader into the story, making me feel as if I am in Rwanda.
