Is this book really aimed at 9-12 year olds? It seems strong stuff for that age group and the main character is 15 so I was planning to put the book in the young adult (teenage) section of the library.

Yes, you are quite right Guantanamo Boy is better suited for the 15+ age group in our market. So it should do fine in your young adult section.
